Document Description
The proposed Project involves renovations and tenant improvements to a portion of an existing building. Improvements will include general clean-up, interior patching and painting, and the installation of lockers. The work area will be used as an office for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and will be occupied by three deputies assigned to the Couth Central DPSS facility. The proposed Project will improve the work area to meet current public health and safety standards, as well as Department space standards. The proposed Project will not increase the current building square footage, nor will it increase the occupancy load of the work area. Prior to the proposed Project, the occupancy load of the proposed Project was four. Upon completion of the proposed Project, the occupancy load of the proposed Project will be three.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed Project is the renovation and improvement of an existing building. The condition of the existing building is attributable to its age and is not the result of an environmental hazard. The renovated building will continue to be used as office space for personnel who provide law enforcement services to county facilities, and will meet current standards of public health and safety. Upon completion of the proposed Project, the occupancy load of the work area will be reduced by one (1), but will not affect the square footage of the work area. The facility is not located in a sensitive environmental setting. All necessary public services are currently available to the facility.
