Document Description
Caltrans proposes to conduct geotechnical drilling studies on SR 299 in Shasta County from PM 30.3 to 40.7. The purpose of the drilling is to generate subsurface data needed for the design of transportation facilities. The drilling will occur within the state right of way and will consist of approx. 6-8 borings. The borings will be 4 inches in diameter and will have a depth of 50-150 feet. A mud rotary self-casing drilling system will be used for advancement of the boring. The borings will be backfilled with cement slurry. For success during drilling, the vegetation will be trimmed and 1 to 3 trees will be removed. Work is estimated to take 30 days and will be conducted from the roadway and in unpaved areas with the state right of way. Lane closures and one-way traffic control may be required.
