Document Description
The project would include the construction of structural elements on the exterior of the building (shear panels, a concrete frame and structural canopy); interior program improvements, and fire/life safety and accessibility upgrades to the first floor area impacted by the seismic strengthening work. Upon completion, the seismic rating would be upgraded to "Good" (DGS Level III). The new structural elements would provide an opportunity to enclose existing covered-unenclosed space, expand the area of the first floor to take advantage of space that can be built-out between the new structural elements, and reconfigure a portion of the first floor to provide the Dean's Office with improved reception, office and conference space. The project would also upgrade the restrooms on the A-level that are primarily used by students. The scope of work would include replacement of the exterior stairs, access ramp and terrace; relocation of utilities; repairs to the building envelope and finishes; abatement of hazardous materials; interior improvements to accommodate the reconfigured space program; installation of a fire water supply line to the building; and repair and restoration of landscape and hardscape elements impacted by the work. The building would be fully operational during construction.
