Document Description
The project will install equipment for a waste water treatment pilot study at the Caltrans Dunnigan SRRA by installing a waste water lift station, a 300-foot long 10-12 inch diameter transit and electrical conduit pipt, a septic tank, dosing tanks, and filters at the facility. The goal is to collect sewage from the comfort station and pump it via the sewage lift station through the bored pipes to the septic tank where it will be treated using the filters. After treatment the sewage will be returned to the SRRA sewer for disposal. The purpose of the project is to evaluate the sewage treatment capabilities of the filters being test to determine if they are able to comply with the State Water Resources Control Board's acceptable threshold standards for on-site waste water treatment systems.

The project area is a developed roadside rest area consisting of a large lawn, some landscaped trees, and two large paved parking areas. According to record searches, there are no archaeological or historical resources present within the project area. No sensitive biological species are present and no sensitive habitats exist at the site. All construction work and staging areas are located within Caltrans' right of way at the SRRA facility, and no other right-of-way acquisition is required. Avoidance and minimization measures will offset any minor, temporary environmental impacts to less-than-significant.
