Document Description
MID plans to build approximately 14 miles of 115 kV transmission lines, a new 230/115 kV substation, and 0.7 miles of 230 kV transmission lines to connect existing MID 115 kV lines on SR 99 west of the City of Merced to the PG&E Wilson Substation on the southeastern side of the city. The proposed route would follow Franklin Road south to Rice Road, turn east and follow Reilly Road, cross SR 99, follow McHenry Road, turn north, and run along Tower Road to the substation site at Tower Road and Gerard Ave. The 230 kV lines would continue on the west side of Tower Road to the Wilson Substation on Childs Ave. As a result of the project, PG&E would expand the Wilson Substation in Merced, expand the Borden Substation southeast of the City of Madera, and reconductor the 6-mile 230 kV Borden Gregg transmission line in Madera County. MID is also considering locating the new 115 kV lines along Gurr Road or the Thorton Alignment, instead of the Franklin Alignment, and these routes will also be considered in the EIR.
