Document Description
Coastal Development Permit (CDP), Site Development Permit and CUP for the demolition of the existing lifeguard station and construction of a new, three-story, 1,877 s.f. lifeguard station. The new partially subterranean lifeguard station would be located within and adjacent to the existing facility. Existing below grade retaining walls would remain in place and new retaining walls would be constructed along the west side of the ramp to the lower level and an 18 1/2 foot wall would be located along the north end of the Lower Level. These new walls would consist of shotcrete tied-back bulkheads, colored and textured to match the adjacent coastal bluffs. Above grade wall height at the Lower Level would vary but would not exceed 12 feet at its highest point. The above grade wall height along the west edge of the ramp would not exceed 4 feet. The walls would be designed for a minimum design life of 50 years and would not be undermined from ongoing coastal erosion. The walls would not be readily viewed from Coast Boulevard, the public sidewalks or the surrounding community. The project site is not included on any government code listings of hazardous waste sites.
