Document Description
The Solid Waste Division (SWD) of San Bernardino County proposes to construct and operate a leachate treatment plant/program to treat leachate that is currently collected at the Heaps Peak Disposal Site and to remove and/or reduce intermittent trace organic and inorganic constituents before treated waters are percolated to groundwater. The project consists of providing a leachate treatment system to meet water quality standards as they relate to leachate wastewater discharge requirements. The wastewater or leachate originates in an existing closed landfill facility. The new treatment facilities will be owned and operated by the SWD of San Bernardino County, and are located approximately three miles west of Running Springs on State Highway 18.
