Document Description
Caltrans proposes installation of a highway advisory radio system, including closed circuit television cameras, at various locations, in the vicinity of Chester, to provide motorist with up to date information regarding regional weather and road conditions. Installing the HAR system will allow The Department's TMC to monitor traffic, weather and pavement conditions by remote, using the CCTV's and provide the traveling public with the information via the HAR. Instructional signs with activated flashing beacons will notify motorist to tune radios to appropriate channel to receive recorded highway and weather information from the TMC. Four locations have been designated: (1): At the northeast corner of intersection SR 36 and County Road A-13 - HAR antenna, with a maintenance access road, CCTV, paved maintenance pull-out and equipment pad/cabinet which will be located on the northwest corner of the intersection. (2): On SR 36 in Chester, between post mile 9.19-9.37 HAR signs will be installed, facing each direction of travel. The equipment pad/cabinet, will be placed along the northern right of way fence. (3): At the junction of SR 36 and 89, HAR signs with flashing beacons, will be installed on each leg of the State Hwy. (4): On SR 89 in Canyon Dam, between post mile 29.25 and 29.32, a HAR sign, equipment pad/cabinet, and a paved maintenance pull-out will be installed.
