Document Description
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern CA proposes to repair erosion and stabilize the banks of drainage along the San Diego Pipeline Nos. 4 and 5 patrol roads between Stations 1527+00 and 1540+00. Metropolitan's patrol road is located adjacent and parallel to the drainage channel. Erosion in the drainage channel is undercutting and threatening the integrity of Metropolitan's patrol road and exposure of its pipelines. The purpose of the project is to stabilize the drainage embankment supporting the patrol road and protect the road from future erosion and pipelines from surface exposure. Metropolitan proposes to repair areas of erosion in the channel embankment by filling eroded areas with native materials, installing geotextile material, and placing ungrouted rip-rap on top of the geotextile material. Metropolitan also proposes to remove several invasive trees and other invasive vegetation that are impeding flow and contributing to erosion of the banks, install a new channel inlet structure upstream (east) of the patrol road, add grout to the rip-rap at the outlet structure downstream (west) of the patrol road, and create concrete drainage turnouts/downspouts along the edge of the patrol road to direct road runoff and allow for better drainage.
