Document Description
The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (Metropolitan) is proposing to repair a stretch of the San Diego Pipeline Nos. 4 and 5 patrol road along Rainbow Creek that was damaged by storms and flooding in the winter storms of 2010/2011. Metropolitan proposes to install concrete, culverted Arizona crossings at two locations where the existing unimproved patrol road extends through Rainbow Creek and is currently impassable due to the storms and erosion. The Arizona crossings will be approximately 20 feet long and 16 feet wide, with a maximum of two 24-inch culverts at each of the two creek crossings. The new concrete crossing will allow for safe passage of Metropolitan patrol vehicles along the San Diego Pipelines Nos. 4 and 5. Metropolitan will also clear debris and fallen trees from the surrounding existing patrol road outside of the creek and place road base material on the existing road to return it to a passable condition. The patrol road provides critical access for patrol, routine inspection, and maintenance activities of existing underground pipelines that carry public water supplies.
