Document Description
Install 1 weather station in Humboldt Redwoods State Park (HRSP) and 2 in Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park (DNCRSP) in collaboration with the Department of Water Resources (DWR). DWR weather stations will be established at Kemp Prairie (HRSP) and on Childs Hill (DNCRSP). These stations are 30' towers, have research grade instrumentation, and automated, real-time, internet-enabled data access. Installation of the tower will require on 2.5' diameter x 3' deep hole in which the tower will be cemented in place. A metal enclosure (2'x1'x 2.5') will be attached to the tower to house the data logging computer, battery, and instrument cabling. The tower will have a 35-watt solar panel (2'x3') and an antenna to communicate with communication satellites. Anti-Climbing panels will be installed to prevent unwanted ascension of the tower. A vinyl coated chain link 8' tall and 10' to a side and be topped with barbed wire security fence will be constructed around the station. The security fence will have four corner posts that require 1' diameter x 2' deep holes. Corner posts will be cemented in place. A padlocked gate will be installed to allow Parks staff access to the station. Excess soil shall be spread and mulched with on-site native materials.
