Document Description
Chemical Waste Management, Inc. ("CWMI") owns and operates the Kettleman Hills Landfill in Kings County. Non-hazardous Class II/III landfill units B-17 and B-19 are regulated by Waste Discharge Requirements Order R5-2006-0122. A portion of Unit B-19 is operated as a bioreactor unit, where liquid waste is injected into the landfill mass to speed up waste discomposition. The bioreactor unit is permitted as a research, development, and demonstration (RD&D") project under federal municipal solid waste regulations.
