Document Description
DTSC is proposing to approve a draft Interim Measure for a Intermin Removal Action Workplan (IRAW), pursuant to authority granted under Chapter 6.5, Division 20, CA Health and Safety Code, for Area of Concern 2 at the General Chemical West LLC Bay Point Works facility located in Pittsburg, CA. If approved, it would allow for the removal of approximately 4,000 cubic yards of contaminated sediments and soils from AOC2, that will be transported to an approved off-site landfill. After removal activities have been completed, the resulting excavated area will be lined with a geotextile fabric linear and backfilled with approximately 36,200 yd3 of clean soil, 3,800 yd3 of gravel, 90 yd3 of rock, and 2,800 yd3 of clay (a total of approximately 2,760 truckloads of imported materials). Project activities are expected to be completed in approximately 12 weeks.
