Document Description
Project, which was approved on Nov. 12, 2014, and for which previous approvals remain in place, will remove sediment from Devil's Gate Reservoir to restore capacity and to protect the dam and its valves to reduce the risk of flooding in the communities located downstream. This effort will include removal of approx. 2.4 million cy of existing excess sediment in the reservoir in addition to any additional sediment that accumulates during construction. The Board authorized a reduction in the maximum total volume of sediment removed during the Project by 700,000 cubic yards, while maintaining the proposed footprint, so that instead of removing maximum of 2.4 mcy, plus any additional flows during the project, a maximum of 1.7 mcy, plus any additional inflows during the project will be removed and authorized by the Director of Public Works, acting as the Chief Engineer of the LA County Flood Control District or his designee to make any necessary modifications to the Board adopted plans and specifications to accomplish this reduction in the project scope.
