Document Description
Note: Response to Comment
The Proposed Project will remove sediment from Devil's Gate Reservoir to restore capacity and to protect the dam and its valves to reduce the risk of flooding in the communities located downstream along the Arroyo Seco. This effort will include removal of approximately 2.9 million cubic yards of existing excess sediment in the reservoir in addition to any additional sediment that accumulates during construction. Sediment removal activities are expected to occur over the course of approximately 5 years beginning Summer 2015. Reservoir management is expected to start after 2020. The purpose of the proposed annual management is to reduce buildup of sediment in the reservoir management area and eliminate or substantially reduce the occurrence of another large-scale sediment removal project in the future.
