Document Description
The Coachella Valley Water District is proposing to construct a new headworks facility at WRP 4 in Thermal, CA. To improve the treatment process, CVWD has decided to decommission the existing preliminary treatment system and build a new headworks that would include screening, pumping, and grit removal and handling. The headworks facility at WRP 4 would use screens to remove large objects. The screened effluent would be pumped to the above-grade grit chamber, which would remove heavy inorganic materials, such as sand and gravel. Under the proposed project, influent pipelines would connect the proposed headworks to the existing Avenue 62 trunk sewer and to three 18-inch force mains. Following preliminary treatment at the headworks, effluent would be conveyed to existing biological treatment facilities via four proposed pipelines. The project would include a stub-out at the influent forebay for future connection to a septage.
