Document Description
The project continues periodic long-term desert tortoise field monitoring undertaken by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U. S. Geological Survey in Johnson Valley OHV Open Riding Area. The USGS and BLM would also analyze direct and indirect anthropogenic impacts on the types and causes of desert tortoise mortality, based on the time-series data collected over three decades. The analysis examines areas both within and adjacent to popular high-use motorized recreation areas in the western and soutern Mojave Desert.
