Document Description
Empire Steel has been in operation in the City of Oroville since March 3, 2011. They operate an existing recycling center at 1585 Parker Avenue in an isolated industrial district south of Oro Dam Boulevard and east of the Union Pacific Railroad. The project site is approximately 1.25 acres and consists of two parcels APNs: 035-050-069 and 070. The applicant is seeking a use permit to expand its use to allow the dismantling yard automobiles. The applicant has been transporting the junk automobiles (whole vehicles) to a dismantling yard and recycling facility in Yuba City. The applicant does not currently have a means of dismantling automobiles on site. The auto dismantling will include: draining oils, gas and antifreeze fluids, removing batteries, crushing and stacking the dismantled vehicles for transportation to the processing facility (in the Bay Area).
