Document Description
Lay back the vertical, destabilized sections of river bank in the section of the banks above and below the ordinary high water mark at a 2.5 to 1 slope, to install live-willow brush mattresses on the laid-back banks, excavate lateral trenches perpendicular to river flow and embed rock baffles every 38 feet within the willow mattresses, and to excavate a toe trench in-water to be back filled with large rock at the foot of the willow mattresses. Incorporate and secure trees which have previously fallen into the river and created complex habitat along the shoreline at the base of the vertical banks. Boulder wing-wall current deflectors, sprigged with willow stakes, at the upstream end of the action areas. Gravel obtained from the opposing gravel bars will be trucked around to cover the live-willow brush mattresses, providing the willows a rooting medium.
