Document Description
The proposed Project would consist of construction and operation of a regulation basin facility, providing a mechanism for capturing spill water at the end of the Herndon West Canal. The project would include a 5-acre regulation basin and related control structures. The improvements will be developed, owned, and operated by the Fresno Irrigation District. In addition to improving water supply regulation and conservation, other Project objectives include sustaining more uniform water deliveries to constituents, maintaining a high quality water supply within the District, and sustaining the viability of agriculture within the District. In addition to the regulation basin, the Project would include two conveyance pipelines connecting the basin to a new replacement Spillway Channel structure and basin inlet/outlet structures. Use of the storage facility is anticipated to be primarily during the District's irrigation season (typically March/April through September/October). Storm flows in the Herndon West Canal could also be diverted into the basin.
