Document Description
United Water Conservation District is conducting a time domain electromagnetic survey to assess the geologic and hydrogeologic conditions within the Oxnard Forebay Basin. The purpose of the study is to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the subsurface geologic conditions related to the aquifer systems in the area. The structural and stratigraphic geology is very complex in the Oxnard Forebay Basin which affects the United Water Conservation Districts operations and management of groundwater within the district. Therefore, a time domain electromagnetic survey is deemed necessary to more definitively determine the structural and stratigraphic conditions in that area to depths in excess of 1,000 feet below ground surface. An increased understanding of the subsurface geology in the vicinity of the field survey area will aid United Water Conservation District and associated agencies in managing local water resources. United is self performing the survey in the near urban/agricultural setting. United Water will coordinate all encroachment permits and access rights associated with the TDEM survey. Field work for the project will be conducted in late summer and early fall of 2011. The survey locations will be spread out throughout the Oxnard Forebay Basin, wherever surface conditions and access rights allow.
