Document Description
This project will repair levee erosion on the left bank of the Sacramento River at RM 36.8, approximately 2 miles south of the town of Hood. The site consists of two scarps that will be repaired. The area will be repaired to its previous slope of 2:1 by replacing approximately 400 cubic yards of soil filled angular rock on the eroded sites. Work will occur between August 16 and October 30 and will take approximately 10 working days to complete. One interior live oak tree will be limbed up to provide clearance for the repair. The work will either be done from a barge on the river or by an excavator and ground crews from the levee crown and road above. Native willow live pole cuttings will be driven into the soil between the rocks along the water's edge. No more than 25 feet upstream and downstream of each erosion site will be disturbed. If a barge is not available, a rock and equipment staging area located 1.6 miles Northeast in the town of Hood along River Road will be used for the repair.
