Document Description
On November 8, 2006, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency promulgated the Ground Water Rule (71 Fed. Reg. 65574; amended Nov. 21, 2006, 71 Fed. Reg. 67427 and June 29, 2009, 74, Fed. Reg. 30953), pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1996 (SDWAA), which provides increased protection against microbial pathogens, specifically viral and bacterial pathogens, in public water systems that use ground water sources.

Reasons for Exemption
This is to advise that the CDPH signed the regulation package on June 6, 2011 and submitted it to the Office of Administrative Law on June 7, 2011. The Department has determined that the project is exempt from the CEQA and further finds that the adoption of the subject regulations does not fall within any exception to categorically exempt projects described in Public Resources Code 21084.
