Document Description
The project is to expand existing grazing in Hollister Hills SVRA with goats for the purposes of targeted invasive weed control. The park has a grazing lease for cattle on about 1000 acres of non-ohv use buffer lands. The cattle are only on the park for about 5 months a year (January-May). The goats would be brought in after the cattle leave and would be used to selectively graze areas with targeted weeds such as Yellow Star Thistle that flower and seed over the summer. The goats will be brought in and fenced in areas with weeds until the achieved grazing effect of removing flowering heads is achieved and then moved to the next area.
