Document Description
The purpose of this project is to install an ATV Obsatcross/ motorcycle endure track. An ATV Obstacross track is one that incorporates an MX course, terrain, and obstacles such as logs, culverts, tractor tires, rocks, jumps, and mud pits. This type of track challenges a rider's abilities, skill, and equipment. This track will also be used as an endure track for dirt bikes. An endure track incorporates similar obstacles as stated above. This project helps meet the Division's 2009 Strategic Plan Goals 2.3 and 3.2. All work will be in accordance to the OHV BMP manual. The project area consists of 4 acres of previously disturbed soil and fencing. The vegetation in the project area consists mainly of non-native grasses, sparse shrubs of coyote brush, and a few live oaks on the far west side. No trees will be removed. Buffers will be placed around existing trees in the project area to ensure they will not be affected from project construction and visitor use. Adjacent to the project is Lodge MX track which allows ATV's and motorcycles. Parts of this track have become susceptible to erosion. This will be corrected as part of this project by minor reroutes of the existing track. The track will be constructed with mechanized equipment and hand crews. Obstacles will be placed at various strategic points along the track. A total of 0.5 miles of trails will be installed. The trail sections will vary between 4 and 8 feet in width. An access road will be developed for maintenance staff to apply water and for general grooming and maintenance. The track will be designed in a manner that limits erosion and is sustainable.
