Document Description
Replace the failing, leaking roof at the Borland house (residence #9) and an adjacent shed in Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park to protect the historic resource and integrity of the shed. Work will remove the non historic fabric roof materials and install cedar class "B" fire rated wood shingles with a 5-1/2 reveal, the new shingles will be identical in appearance to the existing shingles; if necessary, replace the skip-sheathing boards and rafters with in kind material. All repair work on the building will be consistent with the Historic Building Code and the Secretary of Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The work will be documented with a written description and photo-documentation will occur during all phases of the project, including the installation of new "in kind" components. Project work will occur after August 15th to minimize impacts to nesting birds or any bats utilizing the roof.
