Document Description
The project includes the placement of large woody debris (LWD) along a 0.7 mile stretch of the East Branch of Soquel Creek in four 200-foot reaches within the Soquel Demonstration State Forest (SDSF). Each reach shall contain three LWD elements, and each element shall include one to four large pieces of LWD. The tree types of structures to be installed under this project includes: 1) non-anchored root-wad set at about 1/3 bankfull width and parallel to flow, 2) non-anchored "log cluster" of redwood trees arranged as four quasi-interlaced logs, and 3) "log vanes" which are anchored by large rock. Issuance of a Streambed Alteration Agreement Number 1600-2011-0139-3 is pursuant to Fish and Game Code Section 1602.

The project is small habitat restoration project that is less than 5 acres and will enhance instream habitat for fish. Implementation of avoidance and minimization measures during project construction will reduce impacts to an insignificant level on endangered, rare or threatened species or their habitat. No hazardous materials shall be disturbed or removed due to project activities. The project will not result in impacts that are significant when viewed in connection with the effects of past projects, the effects of other current projects, and the effects of probable future projects.
