Document Description
The purpose for the Marshall Project is to eliminate brush piles created from fore-line construction by CAL FIRE hand crews during the Pines Fire (2002) near the community of Julian in San Diego County. The fire suppression repair operation identified these piles for mitigation but for unknown reasons the work was not completed. Recently, the resident brought the matter to attention of CAL FIRE that the piles have not been mitigated. CAL FIRE forestry staff identified that the brush piles are hazardous fuels and contributes to the fuel loading. The mitigation efforts for the 4-acre project site consist of dragging the piles to the nearest road and chipping the material on-site. All chip piles shall be spread to a depth of 3 inches or less.
