Document Description
The purpose of this project is to widen and realign a segment of Deer Valley Road, an existing arterial route in eastern Contra Costa County. The project will begin approximately 1,700 ft. south of Chadbourne Road and end approximately 3,200 ft. south of Chadbourne Road. The widening and realignment will bring the existing pavement width and a curve within this segment of Deer Valley Road up to current design standards. The project involves several improvements: widening the existing travel lanes from 10 ft. to 12 ft. and adding 6 ft. shoulders and 2 ft. of shoulder backing. The widening will require roadway excavation to the depth of the proposed pavement structural section. An existing curve will be realigned from a 1,000 ft. radius to a 2,000 ft. radius. The existing centerlines of the road will be maintained entering and exiting the curve to minimize earthwork and right of way acquisition.
