Document Description
The 150-acre Breuner Marsh project area at Point Pinole on San Pablo Bay, is the focus of the restoration and public access Project. Existing site structures, debris, minor quantities of hazardous materials, and existing non-native vegetation would be removed. The southern portion of the site would be re-graded, and replanted. Public access features, including the Bay Trail and parking would be built. Existing wetland areas would be enhanced by excavation new channels to connect them to the Bay and allow tidal flooding. Material removed from wetland areas would be used to build upland areas with gentle slopes of transitional zone habitat that would become future tidal marsh with sea level rise. Restoration of the mouth of Rheem Creek by lowering the level of the north bank is an optional Project component.
