Document Description
The project is DTSC's proposed approval of the Standardized Hazardous Waste Facility Permit, Small Quantity C for Mantrex, Inc. dba WIT Sales and Refining under the Chp 6.5 of the Health and Safety Code, sections 25200 and 25201.6. Under the Standardized Permit, WIT would be authorized to operate the same treatment and storage units as allowed under its current permit. It would also allow the addition of an electrolytic metal recovery treatment units, as well as the following waste streams: off-site wastes containing precious metals such as spent solution containing palladium, platinum and spent gold iodine etch solutions. This approval encompasses changes and additions to the Facility operations pursuant to the Nov 10, 2015 Standardized Permit application. Project Activities: Under the permit, WIT would continue to perform the following: - operation of a hazardous waste storage and treatment facility to reclaim precious metals from off site wastes generated by printed circuit board manufacturers. These activities are conducted in one building. - As a registered hazardous waste transporter, collect the above wastes in DOT approved containers and transport those wastes to the Facility in SJ. - Collect scrap printed circuit boards, scrap electronic chips and scrap metals, and transport them to the Facility in SJ for treatment. - Conduct recovery from precious metals through various processes such as precious metal stripping, precipitation, purification, and electrolytic treatment processes.
