Document Description
The project proposes construction of a new multi-purpose pathway, adjacent to the west and south side of Flinn Springs Road from Blossom Valley Road to Old Highway 80, to provide safe equestrian and pedestrian access. The project will require acquisition of slope/drainage and temporary construction easements and may also require additional road easements (ROW). The design is proposed to follow recommendations from Figure DG-4 in the Community Trails Master Plan. The proposed approximately 0.6 mile long pathway is proposed to be 10-foot wide, 4" deep and constructed of stabilized decomposed granite. A portion of the pathway will cross Oak Creek, just south of Blossom Valley Road. At the area where the pathway crosses the existing box culvert, the box culvert will be extended in kind to the west to accommodate a 10-foot wide pathway beyond the existing pavement and guardrail. Flinn Springs Road is a two-lane roadway with 10-12 foot lanes and graded shoulders varying in the width from 5' to 20' or more. Right of way widths vary from 40 feet to 50 feet. The total project length is approximately 3200 feet. The road is regulated by a parking prohibition along the west side for the entire project segment. The road intersects both Blossom Valley Road and Old Highway 80 as a "T" and is controlled by a stop sign. Flinn Springs Road is not a County Circulation Element road.
