The Project as approved by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), and as issued to Alta Wind X, LLC; Alta Wind XI, LLC; Alta Wind XII, LLC; Alta Wind XIII, LLC; and Alta Wind XIV, LLC (Permittee) for the Alta East and Northern Portion of Alta Infill II Wind Energy Project, includes Minor Amendment No. 1, Major Amendment No. 2, Minor Amendment No. 3, Minor Amendment No. 4, Minor Amendment No. 5, Major Amendment No. 6, and Minor Amendment No. 7 as a Responsible Agency under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) relying on an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Supplemental EIR prepared and certified for the Project by the lead agency, County of Kern. The Project involves the construction and installation of wind turbine generators (WTGs) and supporting infrastructure to operate them as a wind power generation facility. The ITP authorizes the take of Bakersfield cactus (Opuntia basilaris var. treleasei) and desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii), species designated as endangered and threatened, under the California Endangered Species Act.
Minor Amendment No. 7 updates the one-time payment to supplement the management activities to enhance Bakersfield cactus at a CDFW Ecological Reserve from being paid to an account with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation to an account with the State Treasury.
