Document Description
The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board), as the responsible agency, will be issuing a water supply permit. Upgrades to the Indian Wells Valley Water District (IWVWD) will provide for 20% redundancy in capacity and 1 % annual increase in population. IWVWD proposes to upgrade their well 34 pump and increase pumping from 1,200 gallons per minute to up to 2,000 gallons per minute. IWVWD will drill a new well 35 that will be pumped at up to 1,200 gallons per minute. In phase 2, the IWVWD will increase the pumping capacity of well 35 up to 2,200 gallons per minute. The project will also include construction of electrical service line connection needed to operate Well 34 and 35, fencing, a building enclosure and discharge pond at the Well 35 site, and the installation of a transformer at well site 34. Mitigation measures were provided in the IWVWD's environment impact report to mitigate any significant over-drafted effects that may occur within a 2-mile radius of the new well 35.
