Document Description
A feasibility study was prepared, which identified the need for student housing on the Irvine Valley College campus. The new student housing would be developed in a 3.4-acre site on area that was planned for a parking garage by the 2011 Facilities Master Plan (FMP), and not programmed for uses by the 2020 FMP. The new student-housing buildings would be three to four stories in height, which is consistent with the existing buildings on campus, and would be surrounded by outdoor recreation and open space courtyard areas that support multiple residential and campus activities. The existing campus solar array covered surface parking lot (Lot 6) that is located across Laser Way from the site would provide parking for the proposed student housing. The student housing buildings have not been designed; however, the area is conceptually programmed for four buildings with a capacity for 800 student housing rooms. Consistent with the other new buildings in the 2020 FMP, the residential structures would be designed to meet current Title 24/CalGreen sustainability standards.
