Document Description
The San Diego Unified School District proposes modernization and construction activities within its existing school campuses in accordance with the Proposition S bond. Table A-1 summarizes the project components proposed at each school site that will be completed under this exemption. Modernization efforts would involve improvements which include, but are not limited to:

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project is Categorically Exempt under S 15314 - Minor Additions to Schools of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines. The project is considered exempt because:
1. The proposed projects include minor additions to existing schools within existing school campuses.
2. The project would serve the existing student body and are not intended to increase the population. The projects at each school will not increase the original student capacity by more than 25% or 10 classrooms.
3. The project will not: (1) result in significant cumulative impacts, (2) have a significant effect on the environment due to unusual circumstances, (3) result in damage to scenic resources, (4) be located on a hazardous waste site pursuant to Section 65962.5 of the Government Code, or (5) cause a substantial adverse change in the significance of a historical or biological resource.
