The City of Bakersfield has agreed to accept State Route 178. The purpose of this action is to implement previous decision by Caltrans, they City of Bakersfield and Kern County, the legislature, and the governor. The relinquishment of this segment of state Route 178 also implement AB 1858, which was signed by governor on September 16, 2006.
