Document Description
The proposed project would create a creek channel sized to convey the approximate annual flood, a high-flow channel to convey sediment and water during floods greater than the annual flood, and a floodplain sized to convey the 2-year recurrence interval flood. The proposed project would realign Upper Penitencia Creek to the southwest away from commercial and residential property along the eastern edge of the creek corridor. This realignment would result in the removal of approximately 2 acres of impervious parking lot area and improve the existing highly degraded condition of the eastern and northern banks of the creek. Further, the proposed project would provide floodplain storage, remove non-native vegetation, revegetate with native wetland and riparian plantings, and enhance and restore natural creek functions and values.
