Document Description
This project is designed to facilitate upstream steelhead migration by modifying two sections of concrete lined channels in Mission Creek. The upper trapezoidal section is 0.3 miles long, and the lower section is 0.8 miles long and is located 0.4 miles downstream of the upper section. Phase one of this project will modify the upper channel and phase 2 will modify the lower channel. These two concrete reaches are barriers to steelhead due to water velocities at high flows and depth during low flows. Modification to both reaches will allow access to 3.9 miles of spawning and rearing habitat for steelhead in between flows of 2 to 100 cfs. A new 4-foot wide and 3.5-foot deep low flow concrete channel will be excavated along the southern bank and will contain side pockets, a new innovative design to allow resting areas along the reach.
