Document Description
This project consists of the use of CAL FIRE bulldozers operating on privately owned timberland for the purpose of proficiency training. The project area totals approximately 280 acres, with dozers operating on only a portion of the area. Dozer operations will simulate fire line construction, safety zone construcition, brush piling and fire line suppression & repair. Dozer will also operate blades-up for the purpose of training seasonal firefighters how to perform safely on the fire line when in close proximity to heavy equipment. Dozers will operate on existing tractor roads or else on gentle to moderately sloping terrain located along ridgetops and not near any waterways. The project will be implemented within a multi-year time frame. This project will allow new and re-certifying CAL FIRE dozer operators the opportunity to practice the safe operation of dozers on varied terrain.
