Document Description
The Shaded Fuel Break is a prescriptive application of fire hazard mitigation involving the treatment of flammable vegetation upon lands throughtout the City of Auburn by creating "defensible space" from wildfire. Auburn Municipal Code; Chapter 100; section 100.87, Fuel Modification Standards" require property owners to apply mitigation measures to reduce potential fire hazards in an effort to reduce loss of life and property damage in the event of wildfire. Fire hazard mitigation measures such as the Shaded Fuel Break involve the reduction of flammable fuels by the strategic removal of vegetation which does not displace soil or impact watersheds.
