Document Description
Project consists of improvements to existing levees of the Sacramento River Flood Control Project extending along approx. 41 miles of the Feather River, which will provide higher levels of flood protection to local communities. This work will be undertaken primarily by the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE.) SBFCA's role in the USACE project is to (1) acquire properties for project purposes and (2) contribute funding. The USACE explored this project in the Sutter Basin Pilot Feasibility Study (SBPFS), which resulted in a joint EIR/SEIR. The purpose of the SBPFS was to investigate and determine the extent of Federal Interest in plans that reduce flood risk to the Sutter Basin in Sutter and Butte Counties. Based upon the SBPFS and the EIR/SEIS, the USACE approved the project, which will provide higher levels of flood risk management to local communities.
