Document Description
The proposed project would excavate an existing sag pond to enhance habitat for California tiger salamander. Disturbance at the project site would be limited to 5 acres or less. Sediment would be removed from pond to a depth of ~5 to 6 feet below the existing grade at the southern end and 2 to 3 feet at the northern end to allow water to remain on-site for salamanders to complete their aquatic life stage. Material removed from the sag pond would be used to create a berm around the pond perimeter. Fencing would be installed to control cattle access to the site. All work would be done when the pond is dry and devoid of water. Equipment used will include dozers, front end loaders, and scrapers.
