- Document Description
- The purpose of this project is to improve two sections of Deer Valley Road, and existing arterial route in eastern Contra Costa County. The improvements to Deer Valley Road will provide wider recovery areas, and greater sight distances for drivers. The first section (Location 1) begins at the intersection of Deer Valley Road and marsh Creek Road and ends approximately 140 feet south of the bridge that crosses Marsh Creek. The second section (Location 2) is along a reversing curve beginning 2,100 feet north of the Deer Valley Road and Marsh Creek Road intersection and ending 3,200 feet north of the same intersection. Both locations will include widening lanes from 10 foot wide to 12 foot wide with 6 foot paved shoulders and 2 feet of shoulder backing on both sides. Curve warning signage will be installed as needed to increase safety along the two project locations and Class II bike lanes will be established at both locations with appropriate bike lane signage and striping.
