Cathedral Canyon Drive New Bridge (Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2017-0174-R6)

CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2017-0174-R6, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, City of Cathedral City. Project is limited to installing a bridge on a 0.2-mile segment (1,056 feet) of the Cathedral Canyon roadway to replace the existing low water crossing at the Whitewater River between Paseo Azulejo and Canyon Shores Drive in Cathedral City, CA. This project consists of constructing a 4-pylon bridge over the Whitewater River. Bridge construction will require removal of the existing low water crossing and storm drain outfall structure. Project will also include replacing and constructing new bank stabilization, construction of a concrete lined drop structure upstream from the bridge, concrete lining of the channel section located between the bridge and the drop structure, the construction for two buried transverse cutoff walls with the construction of an ungrouted riprap pad at the toe of the downstream cutoff wall. Project activities will include the construction of a temporary bypass road westerly of the existing roadway to shunt through traffic during construction of the bridge. Project activities will result in a total of 11.23 acres of temporary impacts and a 2.86 acres of permanent impacts to streambed.
