Purchase of two parcels totaling 22 acres from George Schmidbauer. Parcels will be added to the 175 acre Sunny Brae Forest in the City of Arcata for habitat protection, education, research and passive public use.
The project consists of acquisition of land for fish and wildlife conservation proposes. The lands will become part of the Sunny Brae Forest and be managed as a sustainable forest that includes protection for riparian and other sensitive areas and associated wildlife. The acquisition will promote public access to the Sunny Brae forest and maintain the lands in their natural state. The proposed acquisition will rezone the property from residential status to Public Facility (Natural Resources).
