Azalea Fuelbreak is located alongside the eastern shoulder of Interstate 5. This project proposes to use Deadwood Conservation Camp hand Crews to construct approximately 4.45 miles of fuelbreak approximately 75 feet wide along the eastern shoulder of Interstate 5. The fuel modification will primarily consist of brush cutting and chipping. Chips will be spread and/or hauled away. A minor component of the project will be thinning understory saplings and pruning residual trees. Hand piling and burning may also be utilized on a limited scale on this project. The resulting fuelbreak shall provide a pre-established control line from roadside ignitions.
