Document Description
The 4.2 acre project site (El Polin Springs and surrounding environs) sits near the headwaters of the Central Tributary of the watershed. The project site is located entirely within an area of exclusive federal jurisdiction managed by the Presidio Trust. The Presidio Trust view the El Polin Springs area as a cornerstone in the outdoor interpretation and education in the Presidio. It is a site of significant egological values, as well as historic import. The project proposes to reverse some of the human intervention, restoring ecological function to the site. This work is being done as part of a larger, comprehensive vision for the restoration of the entire Tennessee Hollow Watershed - from springs to bay. The larger project will be phased over time and is anticipated to take two decades to complete.
