The project is the purchase of a conservation easeement on 1,362 acres of the historic Topping Ranch; the Sierra Foothill Conservancy is requesting $875,890 in funding from the Sierra Nevada Conservancy's Grand Program for the purchase. The major objectives for this project are to: 1) protect the physical, cultural, and natural resources of Topping Ranch; 2) expand land conservation and connectivity within the Fine Gold Creek Drainage and the San Joaquin River Corridor; and 3) preserve the viability of a working ranch and the local ranching infrastructure and economy.
