The Dental Program has been initiated to comply with the Perez vs. Cate Stipulated Agreement, regarding provisions for dental services to the inmate population. The Dental Program includes the decentralization of dental services, as well as the expansion of existing yard clinics, expansion of existing central health facility clinics, provision of dental clinic space at Administrative Segregation Units (ASUs), Security Housing Units (SHUs) and Psychiatric Services Unit (PSUs) to eliminate the costs and barriers to care currently driven by the requirement to escort these inmates to dental clinics.
